Oranges and cranberries make a great combination. Use this as a flavourful alternative to traditional sauce with roast turkey or chicken.
1 12 ounce package fresh or frozen Johnston’s Cranberries
1 cup cold water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 medium orange, peeled, quartered, and seeded
2 tbsp Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur
Rinse cranberries and remove stems. In a heavy medium saucepan, bring cranberries, water, and sugar to a boil. Cook until berries pop open (about 5 minutes). Reduce heat to simmer, add orange and Grand Marnier and cook 1 minute more. Remove from heat and cool.
Makes about 4 cups
